Ezekiel 36:23-28. I will pour clean water on you and wash away all your sins – Psalm 50(51):12-15, 18-19. Matthew 22:1-14.
We are God’s people
‘A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you. You shall be my people, and I will be your God’. How great, how generous and how life-giving and how liberating is our God. We have been wondrously made, by a God who desires life for us in all its fullness. Our God brings us out of darkness, out of oppression, and breathes God’s spirit into us, gives us a new heart of flesh, flesh of the living God. How often do we stop to really sit with that truth, the truth that we are God’s people and God’s breath lives in us? If we approached each day secure in that knowledge deep within our hearts, what would change? Would we be less fearful, less defensive, more open-hearted and willing to honestly share of ourselves with each other? May we always remember that we are God’s people, and the God of life and liberation is our God.
