About Today Readings

St Peter Canisius

Song of Songs 2:8–14. Cry out with joy in the Lord, you holy ones; sing a new song to him – Psalm 32(33):2–3, 11–12, 20–21. Luke 1:39–45.

See how my Beloved comes

‘Arise, my beloved, my dove, my beautiful one, and come!’ Have you ever been the recipient of such words of love? Recall such a moment now, and savour it. In such words it is God speaking to you. God delights in you. Can you believe it? Can you put aside your disbelief enough to sense God’s desire to wrap you in love? Even considering this as an idea, how does your body respond? You may feel the need to ask the Spirit to help you to believe and to open yourself to God’s love. ‘Let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and you are lovely.’
