About Today Readings

Queenship of Mary

Ezekiel 36:23-28. I will pour clean water on you and wash away all your sins – Psalm 50(51):12-15, 18-19. Matthew 22:1-14.

We pray for Mary’s wisdom, strength and guidance

Few people today are agreeable with the title of Queen. Perhaps those who live in the Commonwealth have a positive image of ‘queen’ due to the good person of Elizabeth II. The mother of Jesus is well known as our Mother. Mother is a personal and familiar title. To be a queen means to have a particular relationship with a whole nation. Mary then is a model of feminine leadership as Queen of all disciples of Jesus, of all men and women. With Jesus she takes responsibility for the wellbeing of our civic community and the spiritual health of the church(es). For the success of our work in these areas, let us pray for her wisdom, strength and guidance.
