You have kept account of my wanderings . . .

We will shortly celebrate Australia Day. While there are complexities and mixed emotions, especially from First Nations peoples, about celebrating the colonisation of a country by a foreign power, it is still for most a time of thanksgiving for all the good things that we have been given. There are many in this land who have had many wanderings and countless tears before they found a safe haven. We are called to welcome them, listen to their stories and keep them from being further vilified and oppressed.

The psalmist calls on God, and as followers of Jesus we are called to be God’s hands, feet, voice and heart. We believe that God is at our side and we can trust in him.

Lord, you give us life through the Gospel. Keep our feet from stumbling, so that together we may all walk in your presence in the land of the living.
