St John of Capistrano
Romans 6:19-23. Happy are they who hope in the Lord – Ps 1:1-4, 6. Luke 12:49-53.
Holy Spirit be with us
Lord you were fearful of what was to come, and your anguished words (‘How great is my distress till it is over’) betray your anxiety. We too become challenged by what we face or anticipate in our lives. We can think we ‘shouldn’t’ be so challenged and distressed. But today’s Gospel puts you right in there with us in the stress and messiness of our lives.
Holy Spirit of Jesus, hold our hands when we’re in a mess. You really know what it’s like.
