Isaiah 9:1-7. Today is born our Saviour, Christ the Lord – Ps 95(96):1-3, 11-13. Titus 2:11-14. Luke 2:1-14.
You will find a Babe lying in a manger
We were on the booze when the angel came
lighting up the hills around.
At first, he scared us stiff but then he told
us that our Saviour had been born.
Great news, we thought, but then he told us more:
the babe was lying in a cow-stall.
What kind of saviour was ever born like that?
we thought? But still we went to see.
There he was in a field of cow dung
as the angel said, and we asked in awe:
What God is this who picks us shepherds
to honour a Saviour born in a field?
