Esther 4:17. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me – Psalm 137(138):1-3, 7-8. Matthew 7:7-12.
Ask, and it will be given to you
It can be challenging to read and hear the words, ‘Ask, and it will be given to you; search and you will find it; knock and the door will be opened for you’. For this may not be your personal experience. Rather, prayers have gone unanswered in the past, doors have been slammed shut, and you may be feeling lost, recognising that your heart has ‘not yet’ found what it is looking for. And yet, rather than give up and stop the search, or the asking or the knocking, we are encouraged to keep going; to have faith, trust and hope in God. We are reminded that God, the God who is Love and who knows us deeply and intimately, is providing for us, now and always. God loves us. The Holy Spirit helps and guides us. Rather than feel disheartened, we are invited to renew our faith, hope and trust in God whose desire is to see each and every one of us, flourish and have life to the full.
