Work on your understanding

In Mark 1-3, Jesus gets right into action in his Galilean ministry. The word spreads like wildfire that he is healing many people, and he is swamped by the sick and needy. There are so many people that he has to take precautions so he is not injured. Chapter 4 leads us into parables, stories that Jesus told to help people understand. They are down to earth and full of imagery from their lives. However, it becomes evident throughout Mark’s Gospel that people are not really understanding what Jesus is saying. The disciples must show their understanding to others, but it becomes obvious that they are not really understanding Jesus and his ministry at all. They will be given much by being close to Jesus and listening to his teaching over and over, but if they do not understand it will be taken away. The more you understand the more wisdom you will be given.
