St Paul VI
Acts 18:1-8. The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power – Ps 97(98):1-4. John 16:16-20.
Hold fast to faith
There is no doubt that it is hard to believe some things. The Jews in Corinth struggled to believe what Paul had to say about the Risen Christ. Paul dramatically took off his cloak and shook it out and went next door. There are so many things that defy our human logic; there is no logic in the destruction of Jesus on the Cross, there is nothing logical about the Resurrection.
Love is not rational and has no logical progression. How do we reconcile our intellectual life with a life of faith based on illogical things? This is a challenge that Jesus and Paul offer us on the way to union with God. We will often lead our lives here on earth full of tears and failings, but the promise is that our sorrow will be turned to joy if we hold fast to our faith. The Lord will reveal his saving power.
