About Today Readings

1 Thessalonians 3:7-13. Fill us with your love, O Lord, and we will sing for joy! – Psalm 89(90):3-4, 12-14, 17. Matthew 24:42-51.

Stay awake!

Lord, we know you are gentle. Yet in this parable of the dishonest servant you disturb us with guilt and fear. You know exactly how honest we are – and how dishonest. So there’s a kind of urgency about your message here. You want so much more than just tepid discipleship.

Lord, keep my soul awake and my spirit alive. Confirm my heart in holiness and love. As with the people of Thessalonica, there are shortcomings in my faith. Let me not get bogged down in misery. Keep my eyes on yours and on your great love. As I walk with you I learn again that my journey is also your journey. I sing Alleluia!
