About Today Readings

ST ISIDORE.

Exodus 32:7-14. Psalm 105(106):19-23. John 5:31-47

Lord, remember us for the love you bear your people – Psalm 105(106):19-23.

‘You do not want to come to me to have life.’

Here is Jesus challenging those listening as to whether they are real about their faith.

Let’s imagine for a moment that we encounter a principled and charismatic political leader who gives us real hope for our country. We might want to help them by doorknocking or making phone calls on their behalf – taking part in the election campaign at a grassroots level – and even speaking with family and friends to convince them that voting for her is an important thing to do.

How much more would we want to serve Jesus our Lord? Will we knock at the door of people’s hearts with his tenderness? Will we take part in the life of the church which gives glory to his name? Will we take part in acts of justice and service at the grassroots? Will we take his encouragement to our family and friends?
