About Today Readings

Easter Thursday

Acts 3:11-26. O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth! – Psalm 8:2, 5-9. Luke 24:35-48.

Every small conversation contributes to greater understanding

I often feel like my mind isn’t at its best. There are very few moments when I feel like I can see things clearly. Most of the time, it feels like I’m thinking through a fog.

When he appears among the disciples in today’s reading, Jesus is said to open their minds to understand the Scriptures. What a gift it must have been to be able to see clearly in that moment.

Of course, we know that at least part of the reason the disciples were able to see thus was because they had accompanied Jesus and listened and learned from him for so long. The revelation he offers in today’s reading didn’t come in a moment, but came off the back of many, many conversations.

These daily prayers might thus seem like these smaller conversations which, in precious moments, might blossom into that greater understanding about God and the world.
