About Today Readings

Philippians 3:3-8. Let hearts rejoice who search for the Lord – Psalm 104(105):2-7. Luke 15:1-10.

I was faultless according to the Law’ but without knowing Christ I was nothing

For Paul, nothing else mattered except for his love of Christ and Christ’s love for him. In terms of our experience of loss, this is a lifelong lesson for us to reach a point of saying ‘there is nothing I do not write down as loss compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus’. When I feel the keenness of deep loss of health, opportunity, relationship or whatever suffering I live, my desperate need is to live in a way that my personal relationship with Christ is real and intimate. To have the beautiful power of God supporting me and encouraging me, in the knowledge that one day we will embrace and be together forever; that is what I want to sustain me. Lord, I pray that your presence in my life becomes tangible, so that any loss I experience, becomes an avenue for my further dependence on you.
