St Faustina Kowalska

Nehemiah 8:1-12. The precepts of the Lord give joy to the heart – Psalm 18(19):8-11. Luke 10:1-12.

How am I called to love and serve?

Here is the Church. On mission. Sent out by the Lord, sent in pairs before him to the towns and villages he will visit. These disciples are sent out into a world in great need, full of opportunity: ‘the harvest is rich’. There must be something of a sense of inadequacy in the number, is not the quality, of those who are sent: ‘but the labourers are few’. So it is in our day. We live in a world of need, full of people deeply desiring meaning, hope, peace.

How do we share it? The peace, hope and deep meaning we experience by having a relationship with Jesus. The answer will be different for each of us. Our prayer today might be a prayer of discernment: how am I called to love and serve by sharing with those around me that the kingdom of God is near to them?
