1 Corinthians 3:18-23. To the Lord belongs the earth and all that fills it – Psalm 23(24):1-6. Luke 5:1-11.
From now on you will catch people
We surprised ourselves by letting him,
a landlubber, in our boat. And when he said
‘Fish further out’, we feared for his safety,
and longed for sleep, but did as he asked.
The fish rushed into our nets as to a party
and the boats were close to sinking.
We were overwhelmed. This was surely God’s doing,
but what were we poor fishermen to God?
Then came the call to go with him to fish
for people and give them life, not take it.
How could we refuse? How could you
refuse such an invitation?
