Hebrews 12:18-19, 21-24. God, in your temple we ponder your love – Psalm 47(48):2-4, 9-11.
Trust in each other and God
Jesus missions the Twelve austerely. They are to take nothing but their clothes, sandals and a staff for the journey. This is a radical act of trust.
The Apostles must trust in God, through Jesus, and the way he will be present to them in others along the way. They also must trust in the way that he will be present to them in each other. They are to go in twos.
Some of the Twelve knew each other, were brothers. Others did not, until they were drawn together by Jesus. Hitting the road with nothing but the clothes on their backs, with an awesome mission, these men had to trust each other. At times when they were not welcomed, they would have had to rely on each other a great deal.
So it is for us today, as disciples of Jesus we must support each other on the way.
