2 Corinthians 9:6-10. Happy the merciful who give to those in need – Ps 111(112):1-2, 5-9. John 12:24-26.
If a grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, it yields a rich harvest
‘Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honour whoever serves me’. (John 12:25-26)
Like a grain of wheat, we each must die to this world to bear the fruit God asks of us. But, fear may keep us in our present state. Clinging to our goals, hopes, and dreams. Clinging to what we want of our life rather than dying to these things keeps us from the future God has planned. But, submitting to God’s will opens us to a world only possible when we surrender everything to Him. All we have to do is practice letting go.
Lord, may I turn away from the life I have designed for myself and towards the life you have planned for me. May I serve you and have you near me always.
