James 1:12–18. Happy are those you teach, O Lord – Psalm 93(94):12–15, 18–19. Mark 8:14–21.
God’s unfailing love holds us up
When I said, ‘My foot is slipping’, your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. One of my favourite images from the Psalms is that of God not letting my foot slip because ‘he who watches over me will not slumber’. The same God who knows when a sparrow falls to the ground holds me up in love and brings me joy through consolation. I sometimes forget to turn to God and flail about trying to rely on my efforts alone. Yet, God’s unfailing love is ever present and is the one constant I can rely on. We are not abandoned or forgotten, and God offers us relief and consolation, holding us up in love. May we always know the unfailing love of our God who does not let us slip.
