About Today Readings

St Henry II

Exodus 2:1-15. Turn to the Lord in your need, and you will live – Ps 68(69):3, 14, 30-31, 33-34. Matthew 11:20-24.

Turn to the Lord in your need, and you will live

Mid-winter can be a drag on the spirits. In the southern parts of the country in particular, where the seasons are more pronounced, the weather is cold, the days are short, and often grey and wet. Spring can seem a long way off and our daily lives just that little more burdensome. How beautiful then is today’s psalm which offers encouragement, aid, and joy when we are afflicted. God is always there with a help that never fails; we have but to ask.

‘For the Lord listens to the needy and does not spurn his servants in their chains’.
