About Today Readings

Stay open and listen to God’s voice

Jesus has some pretty harsh questions for his disciples, and we can have some sympathy with them. The things that they have seen are pretty mind-blowing. And seeing them is one thing, understanding is another. They were poor, they were living under the dictatorship of Rome, and they had no experience of anything like what was happening to them as they followed Jesus. And yet, despite Jesus’ seemingly tough words to them, they don’t leave, they stay with him. For us too, sometimes it may be hard to understand what our God is asking of us. But so long as we keep open, and listen to God’s voice, either in the readings or from the good and wise around us, we’re on the right track.
