May we always respond to God’s love
Not even Jesus could control how people responded to him. Sometimes when we offer friendship or try to help others, we are rebuffed. We can’t control how they react or how they interpret our words and actions. Jesus must have felt frustrated at times too, when people didn’t respond to the gift he was offering. His response to Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum can seem a little harsh, just because they chose not to repent at the sight of the miracles Jesus performed. A few of Jesus’ disciples were from Bethsaida, and Peter’s mother-in-law lived in Capernaum. Was Jesus more upset with these hometowns because some of the people he cared about were from one or other of them? We can sometimes get more upset when we’re rejected by those we love and care about because we want what’s best for them. Is this what Jesus felt too? May we always respond to God’s love and the graces offered to us.
