2 Corinthians 8:1-9. Praise the Lord, my soul! – Ps 145(146):2, 5-9. Matthew 5:43-48.
Pray for those who persecute you
What a burden this Gospel is. How can I be expected to be polite and give my time and attention to people who are so obviously wrong? No, it’s asking too much. I don’t have the energy or willingness to entertain their worries and concerns. I have my own worries; besides I know I’m right.
Well yes, I do know that each one of us has been made in your image and likeness God. Yes, I do know that the first principle of Catholic Social Teaching is to respect the dignity of every human person. Well, yes, of course I believe God is present in every human person, regardless of religion, culture, nationality, orientation, politics or economic standing. Well, yes, everyone does deserve respect as a human being. God, I acknowledge that I am far from heavenly perfection and humbly ask for your help in remembering my faults when I’m too quick to blame others.
