St Elizabeth of Hungary
Apocalypse 3:1-6, 14-22. The one who is victorious I will sit beside me on my throne – Psalm 14(15):2-5. Luke 19:1-10.
The joy of compassionate service
The thread of compassionate and just actions and how they can encourage a change of heart weaves throughout the readings of today. I think back to how Mary went ‘to the hill country’ (Lk 1: 39) to visit Elizabeth to share in her joy, how Zacchaeus jumped ahead to glimpse Jesus and experience the joy of welcoming him to his home, to how Elizabeth of Hungary served the vulnerable in her community with a loving heart. This is where Jesus and the Holy Spirit calls us – to seek out moments of compassionate service to others and experience the genuine joy these moments can foster in us.Email this Print This Page
