Respond with a loving heart
The story of the torture of faithful Eleazar is horrendous. While some Australians as refugees may have experienced persecution like this, for most of us, it is foreign and abhorrent. Jesus experienced this suffering of body and spirit. Sadly, some women experience such suffering in their home. The challenge for us is not to back away when we encounter such suffering through the media or a person we meet. Such people need our compassion and companionship, and we need to hold their reality of evil and respond with a loving heart, just as God does.
