Romans 5:12, 15, 17-21. Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will – Ps 39(40):7-10, 17. Luke 12:35-38.
For wherever your treasure is, that is where your heart will be too
One side of our family owns hotels. I recently stayed at one of these places as guest of my cousin. I deeply appreciated her kindness and generosity, and left feeling refreshed and renewed. What struck me was the way the staff spontaneously said how much they enjoyed working at the hotel and other places owned by the family group.
When I mentioned this to my cousin, she said they tried to treat employees as family. They got to know them and became aware of difficulties and personal crises.
During the COVID-19 lock-downs, international students were left unsupported by the federal government. My cousin said they housed any student employees in one of the closed hotels, providing meals and chemist vouchers and offering work shifts whenever possible. It is a different way to do business when staff are regarded as treasures.
