Whoever has left everything for sake of the Gospel will be repaid
The words, ‘many who are first will be last, and the last will be first’, can be tough to swallow. In today’s society, we are constantly encouraged to do whatever we need to do in order to get ahead, and often individual rights trump over the collective, or common good. Jesus reminds and encourages us to keep our eye on the final prize – heaven – the eternal home of our souls, where we’ll want for nothing, and will be united with God in a most extraordinary way. Our eternal life will far exceed the short amount of time we spend on earth, and yet, what we do on earth is so important for preparing us for the next life. We are invited to open our hearts, to trust in God’s providence and promise that we are provided for. There is enough for all! What act can I do today to put someone else first, that through me they may experience God’s love?
