St Ansgar; St Blaise
2 Samuel 18:9-10, 14, 24-25, 30-19:3. Listen, Lord, and answer me – Ps 85(86):1-6. Mark 5:21-43.
Despair turns to hope
Today’s Gospel recounts Jesus raising Jairus’ daughter and healing the woman who reached out in faith. Both are moments when despair turns to hope, sickness to life. St Blaise and St Ansgar, in their own ways, became thresholds of healing and mission for the people they served. We, too, are invited into these sliding door moments: to choose compassion over indifference, courage over fear. In these decisions, we encounter Christ who restores, renews and brings life.
We pray: Lord Jesus, help us to choose compassion and courage, that we may bring your healing love to others.
