Sow good seeds

‘[T]he righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.’

In today’s Gospel, Jesus pauses to explain the parable of the weeds in the field. Comparing the good seeds to the children of God and the weeds to those who sow darkness, Jesus offers his disciples a choice and warning. Here, we witness the just Jesus – the one many hope not to meet. His caution is: sow good seeds, and you will be rewarded, or lead others away from the Father, and you will see justice.

Lord Jesus, may I wake each morning remembering that the purpose of our time on earth is to plant good seeds. May I find new ways to sow good seeds so your kingdom will flourish.
