St John Vianney
Jeremiah 30:1-2, 12-15, 18-22. The Lord will build up Zion again, and appear in all his glory – Ps 101(102):16-21, 29, 22-23. Matthew 15:1-2, 10-14.
Patience in healing and conversion
At school in a devout regional town in the 1980s and 1990s, being Catholic was easy. University introduced a wider world. Some friends thought I was boring, others that I had become too wild. Driven to explore and tell stories, I persevered. I have moved from journalism to teaching and back to a career that balances faith, journalism, education and mentoring. I now see this path as guided by the Spirit and use my experience to help young people find an easier route.
Jeremiah speaks of God restoring a wounded people. In Matthew, Jesus challenges rigid thinking, showing that rules alone do not capture God’s heart. Love and deeper understanding matter most.
Healing, spiritual or emotional, requires patience. St John Vianney guided people gently, allowing transformation to unfold.
Lord, give me perseverance to follow my path and patience to embrace transformation. Amen.
