Give them something to eat
Arty: Jesus, wasn’t telling your disciples to feed five thousand people a hard ask? Better to send the people home, surely?
Jesus: Better for whom, Arty? But were my disciples just wanting to make people look after themselves? Shouldn’t they have tried to find ways of helping them and not told them to walk to shops that were miles away?
Arty: So, do you suggest having a go and relying on God to back you up? That’s all right, Jesus, if we could work miracles, like you. But we can’t rely on that.
Jesus: Sure, Arty. But didn’t all your Christian hospitals and schools begin by reaching out to people in need and trusting in God? They found ways to do what seemed to be the impossible. And is there any better way to show my Father’s love for the world? Why not give it a go?
