St John Baptist de la Salle
Acts 2:36-41. The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord – Ps 32(33):4-5, 18-20, 22. John 20:11-18.
Jesus turned to her and said, ‘Mary’
As he turned, did the sunlight fall
upon his cheeks, and begin to melt
the frozen ocean of your heart
and turn despair to high surmise?
And when he called you Mary, did
the rocky graveside soften and
the scent of honeysuckle drift
across the early morning air?
May your healing tears fall down
and melt the frozen ocean of our hearts
so that in grief and pain we too
may catch the scent of our risen Lord.
