St Peter To Rot
Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13. The house of Israel trusts in the Lord – Ps 113B(115):3-10. Matthew 9:32-38.
He felt sorry for the dejected crowd
Leo: Thanks, Jesus, for letting me spend the day with you. I was amazed by your rapport with the crowd. But was that a good use of your time? They were no-hopers, weren’t they? Why didn’t you pitch to the movers and shakers?
Jesus: In my Father’s eyes you are all no-hopers, Leo. That’s why he has compassion and sends me here to help you find yourselves and give you hope. The poor understand that better than movers and shakers, don’t they?
Leo: I doubt it, Jesus. They don’t seem too bright. Anyway, they can’t change anything. All you achieved was to annoy the people who matter.
Jesus: You are beginning to sound like one of Pilate’s back-room boys, Leo. But why do you think that you matter to God?
Leo: You’re not suggesting that I matter to God because I stuff up my life, are you? Isn’t that absurd?
