Workers for the Kingdom of God

The excerpt from Matthew’s Gospel reminds us of the wondrous healing power of Jesus. As he continues on his miraculous mission, increasingly the crowds are amazed at his works. Meanwhile the religious leaders are jealous and try to suggest that Jesus’ work is that of the devil.

In our own lives, we see people who do great things or create new paradigms that influence and persuade powerfully. They are sometimes subjected to derision or name calling. Such is what happens to the prophetic voice and its consequent action when it challenges a long-held tradition or the status quo. But these people are the workers for the Kingdom of God, labouring and leading to bring about a harvest of souls that will reap the joy of knowing and being saved by the Good News.
