God is with us
Remember when you were invited to a party. What will I wear? Is there a theme? Who will I meet? In today’s Gospel, there isn’t an invitation to a party, but at the gathering, Jesus is preparing his apostles for what will come. Jesus entrusted a mission to each disciple. Jesus entrusts a mission to each of us. Jesus wants to leave his joy with the apostles and also share this joy with us. Jesus gave his teaching to the world – wholeheartedly and forever. It’s our responsibility to keep true to that word. Jesus pushes us to go beyond our own boundaries, our own limits and explore the world and the beauty within it. We continue to be invited to share in the kingdom of God, the kingdom that was entrusted to us by Jesus.
Coming out of the pandemic, Australian Christian pop duo For King & Country released a song ‘For God Is with Us’ (Sept 2021), reminding us that even though we may feel alone, without hope, God is with us.
