The many blessings of faith

Cancel-culture is a recent term used to describe a cultural phenomenon in which some who are deemed to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner are ostracised or shunned in professional or social circles, particularly in social media. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus reminds his disciples that while they must challenge the behaviours and attitudes of those who struggle to love their neighbours, they shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water. The Gospel writer points to the fact that Jesus’ life was the complete fulfillment of the ancient prophecies, not their rejection. It’s a great reminder to acknowledge the many blessings in our Judeo-Christian faith and value our treasures new and old (Matthew 13:51-52).
