About Today Readings

Acts 5:17-26. The Lord hears the cry of the poor – Psalm 33(34):2-9. John 3:16-21.

God sent his Son into the world so that through him the world might be saved

For God so loved the world … So begins one of the most well recognised verses from the Gospel of John. For God so loved the world that God sent us Jesus out of love, and in complete freedom and vulnerability. Do we believe in this love? Do we believe that this love was manifest in the person of Jesus, who reveals to us the gracious love and mercy of God? As we surrender more deeply to that love, we are transformed by God and experience life with God now and in eternity. But sometimes we close ourselves off from life, from love, from God and we live in darkness. It’s not always easy to face the light that exposes our vulnerabilities, our sin, our woundedness. And yet God continues to reach out to us, in human form, for God is infinite love. May we never be afraid to walk in God’s light and to be open to the transforming power of love.
