God so loved the world
Today’s reading is the ‘go-to’ Bible quote for many Christians. John 3:16 adorns many bumper stickers and countless tattoos across the globe. It captures the essence of the agape love of God in a sentence. The remainder of the reading offers the image of light and darkness to explain all we need to know about living as we are called. If you make a choice to do something in the darkness, hidden away, there is a reason for that. Avoid those choices. Believe the light, reject the dark and know that you are loved. After all, everything that could be sacrificed has been, and you were the reason he came and rose again.
