About Today Readings

Exodus 3:1-6, 9-12. The Lord is kind and merciful – Psalm 102(103):1-4, 6-7. Matthew 11:25-27.

I bless you Father . . . for revealing [these things] to little children

When I worked in staff and executive development in the Sydney Catholic system some years ago, our team designed a problem-solving process. Through a survey, staff would write down three positives and three negatives about the school. Results of collated surveys were read out. By consensus, staff selected the problem area they wanted to address. Signs, causes and solutions of the problem were examined. A voluntary committee from the staff agreed to meet weekly with a facilitator after school hours to implement the action plan. Our team committed to working with them and keeping the whole staff informed.

Actions were owned and implemented willingly by staff. It just goes to show that the Holy Spirit does not speak only to designated leaders. The divine right of kings was never an effective model for school or church leadership.
