Ss John de Brebeuf, Isaac Jogues & Cc.; St Paul of the Cross

Ephesians 3:2-12. You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation – Isaiah 12:2-6. Luke 12:39-48.

Building the Kingdom of Heaven cannot be delayed

If you’re like me, winter can often be a time when we fall into bad habits. We eat more, exercise less, and end up looking after ourselves less than we should. As the weather changes, and new life emerges in Spring, there’s an opportunity to establish some new behavioural habits – to start looking after ourselves a little bit better.

In today’s reading, Jesus is warning his disciples against falling into bad habits. If they start thinking about the Kingdom of Heaven being something distant, something they have plenty of time to build, then they’ll become complacent. Our work as followers of God needs to be habitual. And there’s no better time to establish a new habit than today.
