Beware of false prophets
Alex: Jesus, why were you worried about false prophets? They’re so obviously fakes. Anyone would have preferred your teaching, surely. You were genuine.
Jesus: Thanks, Alex. You might overestimate people, though. They’re always looking for an easy way to live. These conmen rely on the larceny in people’s blood to sell their snake oil. They smile at people while ripping them off. And it’s really God they defraud.
Alex: So you’re different, Jesus?
Jesus: Judge for yourself, Alex. Look at what happens when I am with people. I don’t flatter them. I talk straight. I don’t try to be clever, but simply speak God’s word and take them seriously as persons. I’m a channel to God – just look at people’s faces when I’m with them. They become free and joyful and healed in body and heart. I love them as my Father loves them.
Alex: Thanks, Jesus. I can see that. May I stay a while with you watching how you live?
