St John of Capistrano
Ephesians 3:2-12. You will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation – Isaiah 12:2-6. Luke 12:39-48.
To those given a great deal, a great deal will be demanded of them
The master in today’s Gospel readings might find himself in trouble with the authorities were he to respond to recalcitrant employees in the way Jesus describes. But most of us would be aware of situations where we have a choice to act in ways that are faithful to the wishes of those who place trust in us, or to ignore those wishes and put that trust at risk.
Those of us who are aware of Christ’s teachings have a different level of trust placed in us by God. We’re called to be faithful because our words and actions can lead others towards (or away from) God. The greater our role in the Church, the more trust and responsibility is placed on us.
How much responsibility are we willing to take on for God?
