About Today Readings

St Fidelis of Sigmaringen

Acts 12:24 – 13:5. O God, let all the nations praise you! – Psalm 66(67):2-3, 5-6, 8. John 12:44-50.

I do not come to judge but to save the world.

Justin: I’m glad you didn’t come to judge the world, Jesus. Many Christians I know do a lot of judging! And didn’t you judge a lot, as well? You gave the pharisees, scribes and Herod a serve. How come?

Jesus: Good question, Justin. The scribes and Pharisees I came across were leading people astray about God. They kept judging people harshly by their failure to obey the law. They told people whom God loved that God had no time for them and would not save them. God sent me to save just these people.

Justin. Thanks Jesus. Does that mean we shouldn’t judge other Christians who question your teaching? Haven’t they denied the light that you came to bring us?

Jesus: You may disagree with them but not dismiss them, Justin. You are all sinners whom God loves: you should reach out and listen to one another.
