‘Take nothing for the journey …’
When Jesus sent the twelve out on their own to preach the Good News, they must have felt a certain amount of trepidation. After that marvellous time of practising their ministry in the company of Jesus, their leader and teacher, they surely must have felt the winds of uncertainty and doubt whistling around their shoulders.
But then, can’t you hear the impulsive and generous Peter saying, ‘Come on guys, let’s give it a go!’? And they did and were successful beyond their wildest dreams. It is all a matter of trust.
