God communicates in various ways

The story of Paul’s conversion shows us one of the rarer ways in which God communicates with us. It’s entertaining. There are bright lights, and Paul gets knocked off his horse, and there’s a loud voice with a clear message just for him. Sometimes communication with God is like this. But it doesn’t happen often.

There is something to be said for quiet, boring moments in prayer. We don’t always get knocked off our horse. We don’t always get a booming voice from the sky. It’s not always clear what is being said. But there is something to be said for standing at the laundry sink, pouring filthy mop water out from a bucket, and having a quiet awareness of the God of the Universe. I pray I can have some more of these today.
