St Gregory the Great. Colossians 1:1-8. I trust in the kindness of God for ever – Ps 51(52):10-11. Luke 4:38-44.
Our personal commission
Jesus tells the crowd, ‘I must proclaim the Good News . . . for this is what I was sent to do’. As we remember pastor, teacher and missionary pope St Gregory the Great, we reflect on the same call in our own lives: to carry Christ into the world with courage, compassion and conviction. Gregory’s legacy wasn’t just in his reforms or writings, but in his trust in God’s kindness and his service to others. As with the early Christians in Colossae, we are invited to be people of faith, hope and love, bearing fruit in our daily lives. May we listen to Jesus’ words as our personal commission and bring healing where there is pain, peace where there is conflict, and the Good News where there is despair.
Lord, help us to live the mission with the kindness, humility and strength you showed.
