St John Vianney

The Canaanite woman debates with Jesus and saves her daughter
On the feast of St John Vianney, the patron of parish priests, we hear the story from Matthew’s Gospel of Jesus and the Canaanite woman.
It reminds us of the valuable ministry that parish priests have in our Church. They offer places where people in need can come to find refuge and hope – whether they are currently part of the faith community or not.
As we reflect today, let us give thanks for the parish priests in our Church. We pray that they might continue to follow in the footsteps of St John Vianney in helping people reconcile with God.
