About Today Readings

St Francis of Assisi
Nehemiah 2:1-8. Let my tongue be silenced if I ever forget you! – Psalm 136(137):1-6. Luke 9:57-62.

I will follow you wherever you go

Your words, dear Jesus, scare me stiff:
you know I want to follow you,
but fear the thought of homelessness,
and unpredictability.

And Lord, what son could leave his dad
to lie unburied, what wife walk out
on home and family to follow you
without a word of explanation?

You do not answer me. My words
lie hanging in the air. Am I
prepared to follow you and leave
