About Today Readings

Easter Wednesday

Acts 3:1-10. Let all who seek the Lord rejoice – Psalm 104(105):1-4, 6-9. Luke 24:13-35.

Their eyes were opened and they recognised him

How often do we moan that we are abandoned by God? Yet in today’s Gospel we see that Jesus is always walking with us: it’s just that we are looking for him in the wrong place. Our preconceived notions of God prevent us from recognising his presence.

It took Jesus a while to get through to these two disciples. Once their eyes opened, they were changed. Let us pray for the grace to be more attentive to God’s grace working in us, so that we might recognise Jesus’ presence at our side.
