The gift of The Lord’s Prayer

Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed. It’s hard to know what to say in prayer. That’s what makes The Lord’s Prayer such a gift. Everything we need is contained in those well-worn lines. The prayer can be said slowly, with time taken to ponder each word, or rattled off quickly as a mini-offering in the midst of daily chaos. Today is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the Rosary is another such gift of prayer. Today’s Gospel reading also reminds us that Jesus will always help us to pray when we are feeling stuck. The next time my prayer life is feeling dry, I might offer an Our Father and ask Jesus to help me to pray.
