1 John 4:11-18. Lord, every nation on earth will adore you – Psalm 71(72):1-2, 10-13. Mark 6:45-52.
Love fearlessly
‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’ If only we could be so fearless in facing the storms in our lives.
John tells us that true love casts out all fear. To love fearlessly is our challenge for today. Mark says the hearts of the disciples were hardened. They had not understood the message of the loaves. They had forgotten that the Lord had fed the hungry thousands, and that he had asked them to be the ones to distribute the loaves.
They were the ministers and signs of God’s love. Through our baptism we have all become the ministers and signs of God’s love. And still, we are afraid. A new year has dawned, a year of jubilee, and we are invited to walk this year as pilgrims of hope. God is with us as we walk. Can we tell our faces to look like pilgrims of hope?
